Surprise, Surprise: Breast Cancer & Binge Drinking
So as part of my real-life job I scan the newswires for health stories. And I came across one about breast cancer risk & binge drinking that will appear in the new European Journal of Public Health when it come out, recapped here on the BBC that surprises even me.
I mean, it's not like I don't know that binge drinking is dangerous for you--but breast cancer? But there you go. And the study looks at over 17,000 nurses, so this is no sham study of a couple dozen college kids.
Bottom line? Science is telling us that one glass of red wine a day is good for our hearts, while excessive drinking may up our chances of breast cancer.
As if I haven't been getting the message from every part of my life lately. That the real secret to happiness and health is the goldilicks principle: not too big, not too small.
Balance over indulgence and abstinence.

interesting.
I have heard too this may have to do with insulin...that breast cancer is attracted to "eating" or feeding on insulin...so whenour hormones are messed up...and we eat too much sugar or starch and release too much insulin...the breast cancer is attracted. T
This might make sense with the binge drinking too because hormones would be out of balance with insulin after binging on booze.
How do they connect these things with these ailments? It's baffeling to me.
teeth bleaching
Well, it's this little thing they''ve come up with called science... And actually, the study looked at 17,000 nurses in Denmark--so this isn't a puny study of a couple dozen college students... Problem with most of these things is that people never want to believe science that would suggest they need to modify their own behavior... People see what they want to see and disgard the rest. (And if you can tell me where that quote comes from, three stars for you.)
And please don't post advertisements in my comments section again--even tho i do think white teeth are, in general, a good thing. Thank you very much...
paul simon?
do i win the stars???
Another thing I was thinking about and this binge drinking...is one, it's almost like the binge drinking is a response to how males drink at frat parties. To drink like that is a kind of equal attempt at being well...equal? Also...when people are inge drinking and out getting all hyper and encouraging each other to do shots and another round...fast...they aren't eating.
There is always a lot to be said about having food and snakcs while visiting and having fun.
